Ibo 300x225 Ibo Restaurant Review

Ibo Restaurant in front of the water

I found out about Ibo Restaurant on Trip Advisor and since it was my last day in Lisbon I decided to treat myself and trust me I was not disappointed. It is classed as an African restaurant, a fusion of food from Mozambique and Portugal. It all seemed pretty European to me though. I couldn’t identify the Mozambican food nevertheless I must say that this was the best food I had in Lisbon and at the same time it was the priciest. The restaurant is located in front of Cais Do Sodre Metro Station next to a restaurant called Alma Lusitana.

I came at lunch time and the restaurant was rather quiet. I took a seat outside next to the water and there was only one other table occupied out there. I would have loved to have had a starter but my cash was running low so I had to settle with a main and desert. In total with a glass of house white (4 Euro) the bill came to 30 Euro without a  tip.

Steak 300x225 Ibo Restaurant Review

Steak in gorgonzola sauce with salad and chips

For the main I had the steak with gorgonzola sauce (19 Euro). The steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce accompanying was dreamy. There was alot of sauce and I didn’t think that I could possibly finish it but I most certainly did. It came with salad and hand cut fries which were also good. My only complaint would be that the fries were simply warm and not hot as I’d have liked.

Cheesecake 300x225 Ibo Restaurant Review

Wild berry cheesecake - The best I ever had!

The wild berry cheescake (7 Euro) was the best that I’ve ever had. the portion was generous and it tasted simply superb. The filling was light and the base too was light not stodgy and full of sugar granules as cheesecake base sometimes can be. The topping was indulgent and delicious, however I didn’t eat the berries because I couldnt be bothered to pick them off the stalk.

I sat outside in front of the water which was nice and very calming. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Thumbs up!

If you want to visit Ibo Restaurant it is located in the Baixa neighbourhood more or less opposite the Cais Do Sodre Metro. The address is: Armazem A – Compartimento 2 | Cais Do Sodre, Lisbon, Portugal
